Are you interested in going to the MFMC Choral Workshop October 5, 2024

Attend a workshop to give a boost to the start of your choral year!  The workshop will be led by University of Olivet Director of Choral Activities, Joel Moore.  We will learn vocal and choral techniques as well as rehearsing three choral selections.  This workshop is open to members and friends of Jackson Tuesday Musicale and Lansing Matinee Musicale.  Participants do not need to be Michigan Federation Members, but will certainly be encouraged to join!

ONUR ALAKAVULAR, GUITAR

Onur Alakavuklar holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Guitar Performance with a Jazz-
emphasized minor in Music Education from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Onur
has claimed prizes in chamber music competitions and has performed with The Atlanta Opera,
Indiana University Philharmonic Orchestra, and various chamber music groups internationally.
He has performed in Musical Theater bands, Jazz Bands and had solo recitals in Europe, Asia,
and U.S.A.
During his doctoral studies at IU, Onur was an Associate Instructor for the Guitar Department
and served on a team to organize and judge the IU International Guitar Festival and Competition.
Onur has been teaching music professionally for more than a decade and has instructed students
in Guitar, Piano, Guitar Composition and Jazz Arranging, Ukulele, Music Theory and Music
History.
Onur holds a Master of Music degree from Texas State University and Bachelor of Music from
Yasar University in Izmir/Turkey. In his free time, Onur works on music production and
recording techniques, composes, and arranges novel classical and jazz guitar works.

PRISM FLUTE CHOIR

Founded in 2016, Prism Flute Choir is a group of dedicated players of
varied ages who love playing the flute and sharing with others the
wonderful music composed or arranged for flute choir. Director Barbara
Stanton is a lifelong learner whose goal is to share with the players her
experiences of playing in orchestras, bands, woodwind quintets and flute
choirs, along with directing bands and choirs. Her education includes
degrees in education and music and participation in master classes in
France and Italy.
